This week, Pete has really started putting his hand into his mouth. Which may seem like a small thing, but he's discovering he has control over his body. He's come a long way from the days of accidentally scratching himself on the face (actually he still does that). Apparently he can start to self-soothe when he can suck on his hand, so we've begun to leave one arm out of his swaddle at night. He still naps in the swing (he prefers the highest setting). He goes down like an angel at night (thank you god) and wakes up a touch too early for mom's taste (5ish) but only gets up once during the night to nurse. We'll keep him. He's holding his head up more and more, and starting to seem less like a human bobblehead. He had a lot of visitors (the Siegers and his Nana and Papa) and seemed aware, for the first time, that someone other than Mom and Dad were holding him. Sometimes he was not so happy about that. He's making a lot of "o" sounds, and has been for a few weeks. He'll happily jabber away at you if you talk to him. Sweetest sounds we've ever heard.

I think he looks like a little sumo wrestler here.

He doesn't love his walks, as you can tell from his face. I'm hoping he'll be more enthusiastic about them once he can face forward and see the world. Mat takes him every morning with Feenie, though sometimes they have to cut them short if Pete gets too fussy (poor Feenie--one of the many ways her post-Pete life is inferior to her pre-Pete life).

Found his hand!

This was after we got Pete up for the last time after trying, unsuccessfully, to get him to nap in his crib. He said no!

Mat likes to dress him up...

On his way to the mythical self-soothing stage.

Asleep in my arms. I'll be sad when he stops doing that.

It's hard to get a clear picture of him these days because he moves so much!

He purses his lips after he falls alseep while he's nursing. Cutest thing ever.
