For New Year's Eve we...went to bed early and hoped that the fireworks wouldn't wake up Pete (they did not). We thought we would get a lot of work done over break (or I thought that--Mat might have been more realistic) but little Petey occupied most of our time. He is, it has to be said, more fun than work. If only he could write my next book. Mat went skiing with my dad and my mom came to help me take care of Pete. Mat left on a Monday morning; by that afternoon, Pete had stopped army crawling! He now crawls like a regular baby, and he is into EVERYTHING. All the cliches are true: he's into everything, never a dull moment, time passes so quickly, you're so tired but so happy. Etc, etc. Blink and you'll miss it.

Fried rice. He still eats basically anything.

Standing!

Trying on dad's ski gear.

At Burger Wi-Fi, our fave.

King of Lowe's

Collard greens and black-eyes peas on New Year's Day

Reading before bed. Pete uses this time as an opportunity to examine our faces and climb all over us.

Mat nailing numbers--come visit us!

He will tolerate watching us do yardwork for about half an hour. More if you're doing something particularly entertaining, like standing on a ladder and trimming a tree.

At the library.

Waiting for Lulu to come.

He has outgrown the exersaucer, too!

Jail

Favorite toy

The cats. They're still here.

At our new Korean restuarant! Strangely enough, there are a lot of Korean restuarants in Auburn because of the Hyundai and Kia plants right outside of town.
