September 1 to 15

The first two weeks of September were spent getting into the swing of things. The cutest thing Pete does right now is to take our hand (any adult hand will do) and guide it to whatever he wants: to retrieve something beyond his reach, to open a door, to get a cat. He has about a dozen words, but still mainly grunts and moans and groans, conversationally. He loves spending time with other kids. We had a party for a new faculty member and Pete had the best time of anyone--he was running around, stealing people's food, climbing into strangers' laps. He might (might!) take after me in that respect.

Pete got passport photos! It went surprisingly well, because he was stunned by the white screen behind him and the lady with the camera in front of him. Luckily she moved quickly.

We are going to Lisbon and Madrid in December. We might be insane.

At the Decatur Book Festival. I drove to Atlanta for the day, leaving Pete with Mat for a long time. He took a half an hour nap, because nobody was being paid to watch him sleep. (I'm with Powell, here, one of my sister's friends from college.)

At Jim N Nicks after I returned from Atlanta. Pete loves my unsweetened iced tea with lemon and Splenda.

A cheesy biscuit from Jim N Nicks. They are amazing.

At Chappy's, after a visit to our pediatrician to see if Pete had strep throat (he did not).

Building a tower. When he builds a tower successfully, he claps for himself.

It is difficult to get a good photo of Pete and someone else these days.

He's got the milkshake envy

We got pinestraw for our yard, which people use down here instead of bark for mulch. Pete was very interested in the bales.

He requested a glass of water, and then poured it all over himself.

He really likes throwing things off of here...

Eating a cookie at Publix

Fipi is a part-time outdoor cat now. Here she is visiting me.

"Art" from preschool. Pete seems to have little to do with his art.
