We are moving! Just down the street. We need a bigger house so Mat and I can both have offices, and I want a smaller yard (we are tired of yard work) and there are other reasons as well, so we decided to just do it. We close today on this house, which is about two streets over from our current house. Our current house closes on May 31. So it's going to be a busy few weeks.

In other news, my friend David visited from St. Louis, and we ate a lot. We probably spent 30% of our time talking and the other 70% shoving food down our gullets. Pete graduated from Grace and is now going to Children's Day Out at AUMC, where he used to do Kindermusik. He clings to us as soon as we walk inside, which makes me sad. He'd gotten so used to Grace.

He smiles on command and says "cheese," so I guess we've entered the fake smile phase. He also says "thank you" and "no thanks" regularly. He's talking more and more, and has so many likes and dislikes it's hard to keep track of them (he's good about reminding us, though). He calls Fipi "Peepee" and grabs her by the tail and laughs when she squeals (we don't let him do this, but sometimes it happens). He thinks he's in charge of Feenie, and likes to take her food to her and feed her piece by piece. He thinks he's in charge of everything, and he kind of is. His teachers at Grace said he scolds kids when they do things they're not supposed to.

He is almost never without his drumstick, or a toothbrush, or a hammer--he likes instruments that can be used as weapons. He loves a book the Woods got him, Mighty Mighty Construction Site, and chooses that every time we go into his room. We've since purchased the sequel, Night Night Construction Site, which he also likes.

He is very cuddly, and though we have nothing to compare him to, his teachers confirm that he's snuggly. He's still built like a little tank, and looks a lot like me and my dad did as kids, but a lot like Mat, too, especially as he gets older.

The new house! It has a big walk-out basement.

The cats, who mainly stay in our master suite area because they will defile the house otherwise. It looks like they're going to live forever.

Feenie thinks of this house as hers already

Playing with Sarah

Courtlyn, his main sitter, got him a backpack

She also got him to smile like this

David was one of the first people to see Pete in the hospital when he was born.

Cheese!

Courtlyn took these (and also cut up his food really neatly. His plates do not look so nice when we're in charge).

At Walter's Gas and Grill. If you ever come to visit, I'll take you.

Mat let him hold a cockroach

At the new house

French After Party

He wanted nothing to do with the water, but then he saw some big kids get in and was all about it.

Packing up our millions of books

Likes to eat peanut butter straight from the jar
