May 12 to 19

We closed on the new house on May 12, and went to Seaside (I was teaching at a Writer's Conference) on May 14. It was a busy weekend! The beach was...underwhelming. We're not really a beach family, which I always forget. Pete decided he didn't like the sand ("ew!") and especially did not like the sand when it got trapped in his shoes.

While I taught, Mat took Pete to the library. It was so hot outside you couldn't really go swimming unless it was early in the morning or right before sunset.

The next morning, in the water. We were the only people on the beach. Pete liked being held, but since he can't swim, our activities in the water were limited.
